Checking…

A design checklist based on common thumbnail advice. It doesn’t predict click-through rate (CTR), views or ranking. Tap a tip to select that layer.

How it’s scored

Each check has a fixed weight (points). A pass earns all its points, a tip earns about half, a fix earns none, and some checks give partial credit. Checks that don’t apply (for example, no title or no cut-out) are left out. The score is the points earned divided by the points available, times 100. The same design always gets the same score.

Text size and contrast are measured on renders at phone-feed sizes (168 and 320 px wide), using the WCAG contrast ratio. “Contrast & colour” and “Not too busy” are rules of thumb, not tested predictions.
